When I started at this company, a community bank, there were no grammar guidelines whatsoever. As a self-proclaimed grammar hammer, I would shiver when I would receive an email that was rife with errors. To fight the good fight, I put together this set of editorial guidelines for the entire bank. I described it to our staff as their own desk reference ... if they had a question, this guide was their first line of defense.

We took pride in being an environmentally-conscious bank. To promote that, we developed a suite of fully-electronic accounts called GenGreen. Part of the draw to open these accounts was a nominal cash-back reward for every VISA check card purchase as well as a donation to environmental sustainability efforts within the bank's footprint. This was the press release I drafted and distributed to announce the initial rollout.
